I own property in Roselle, but I don't live in Roselle. I'm in town for business frequently. Someone told me I could get a library card because I own property. Is that true? What do I need to get a library card?
Yes, you can get a Roselle library card! You need to come in with some form of identification that shows us that you don't live in Roselle, and proof that you own property in Roselle and that this property is subject to the library tax. You also have to provide proof of payment of the tax. We'll have you fill out a little application and take copies of the supporting records. On the application, you'll have to designate a sole user for the card, because non-resident property ownership only provides for a single card/account and a single user. If you are not the sole owner of the property, for example you are a partner in a firm that owns property in Roselle you will have to provide a statement from the firm designating the sole person able to use the card and the card will be issued to that person only. It's really pretty simple.
Are you wondering about the image above? No, this person is not "Dear Circ" and is not employed by the Roselle Public Library. Nor is he a patron of ours, although he might have been in the past, and he does look like he's writing up a storm of questions. The person above was a Roselle property owner, and a Roselle resident from 1938. Place your mouse cursor on the photo for the name of the person. Left click the image for an enlargement.
