How do I register for a program...??

Dear Circ,

It's gardening season, it's my favorite time of year. I'm getting ready. I love my garden, the digging in the soil, the planting, the growing, and the best part, the eating. Some people think gardening is dirty, and messy, and just plain hard work, but I think it's an annual miracle, right in my backyard. I was in the library, and saw this sign for a program about tomatoes, and another one about bees, and I'd like to attend.

BUT, now the question is: How do I sign up? I want a seat!

Dirty Gertie

Dear Gert,

We agree, gardening is a wonderful experience. The best part is there are so many ways to do it, there's a way for just about anyone to be successful. But we digress....

To answer your question about how to sign up for a program, well, there are different ways to do that too. You can do it online, by going to our home page. At the top, under our name, in the middle of the bar, you'll see a category called Events. If you click on Events, you'll get to our online Events Calendar. You can page through the Events Calendar month by month. If you place your mouse cursor on a title of a program that interests you, you'll get a pop-up description of the program, what time it starts, where it will be, and whether there are openings. Or you can just left click on the title of the program that you'd like to attend, like "Growing Terrific Tomatoes" on April 26 or "Plight of the Honeybee" on April 29. You'll get a form to fill out. Above the form, there's more information about the program, everything that's in the pop-up description and more. Fill in the form with the requested information and left click on "Complete Registration." If you provided an e-mail address, you'll receive a registration confirmation by e-mail. That's all there is to it, and you can register any old time you want to.

Alternatively, you can call us at 630-529-1641. If you know what you want, we can register you over the phone. Or if you just want more information, we can connect you to the desk that is in charge of the program. If you're in the library, you can just stop by the Circulation desk. It's really easy!

Dear Readers,
Are you wondering about the image above? No, this person is not "Dear Circ" and is not employed by the Roselle Public Library. Nor is she a patron of ours. The person above is a famous author, actress, television personality and comedian. We don't know if she loves gardening, but we suspect she likes tomatoes and bees. Place your mouse cursor on the photo for the name of the author. Left click the image for an enlargement. For more information about this author, go here and here. For items to check out, try our catalog.

Do you have questions about the Roselle Public Library? Want advice about how to manage your account? How to find things? Want to know more about what we can offer you? Or worse, are you just lost in library jargon, and not even sure what to ask? Here's our forum for how to get the most from us, your local library. You can submit questions online to Dear Circ, or, as always, in person, or by phone (630-529-1641). Posted questions will be anonymous. Responses reflect the policies and programs of the Roselle Public Library, and may have no relevance to the policies, services, and procedures at any other library.
