What's a mobile hotspot....??

John F. Kennedy Presidential Library
and Museum, Boston, MA
Dear Circ,

It's spring! Once a year, we like to take our families for a group get-away and we're planning our trip now. We like to go places that are off the beaten track, not very fancy, and generally don't provide wi-fi. Somebody told me you have some kind of mobile hotspot thingy that we can check out and take with us! Can you tell us more?

Frank and Fred Fischer Families

Dear Fischer Families,

We do have a mobile hotspot, available for checkout. It allows you to connect your wi-fi devices to everything on the internet, and better still, via the internet, you can connect to us. It's small, and connects up to 10 devices, so it's perfect for a group. You can operate all your tablets, phones, readers, what have you. And the best part? No cost for data, no cost for minutes, no cost to you! You can check it out for a week at a time and take it with you, it's perfect for families on the go. You can put a hold on it, although we can't guarantee that the hotspot will be available for the dates of your trip. Call us at 630-529-1641, or come in and ask!

Dear Readers,
Are you wondering about the image above? No, these two fellows are not "Dear Circ" and are not employed by the Roselle Public Library. Nor are they patrons of ours. The people above (not the fish) are both famous authors. Place your mouse cursor on the photo for the names of the authors. Left click the image for an enlargement. For more information about each of them, go here and here. If you're curious about the history of their friendship, try this. For things to check out, try our catalog.

Do you have questions about the Roselle Public Library? Want advice about how to manage your account? How to find things? Want to know more about what we can offer you? Or worse, are you just lost in library jargon, and not even sure what to ask? Here's our forum for how to get the most from us, your local library. You can submit questions online to Dear Circ, or, as always, in person, or by phone (630-529-1641). Posted questions will be anonymous. Responses reflect the policies and programs of the Roselle Public Library, and may have no relevance to the policies, services, and procedures at any other library.
